Cars in Germany's City Discovered Smeared with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Officers mentioned they were alerted by a man who noticed a vehicle in Hanau marked with red-colored fluid

Roughly 50 cars have been covered with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.

Automobiles, building surfaces and postboxes were vandalized, occasionally with swastikas, they reported in a release.

Officers say they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday, when a individual observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored liquid.

The substance had been applied in the form of a Nazi symbol, they added.

Police then located numerous other vandalized cars and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

Swastikas are illegal in Germany under legislation prohibiting the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.

Police report early analysis indicate the liquid was likely human bodily fluid.

"At present there remains no indication as to where it came from; officials are not yet cognizant of any physical harm in relation with the occurrence," they commented.

Municipal representatives said they were working "to resolve the mystery" and have appealed to the residents for tips.

An important political figure said the attack rendered him speechless and had to be solved rapidly.

"This act affects the core of Hanau and revives the wounds of the right-wing terrorist attack in 2020," he wrote on online, recalling the death of nine individuals by a shooter aiming at people of immigrant origin in five years prior.
